Academic Philosophy of Morning Star Academy

Morning Star Academy desires our students to grow through relationships, excellence and service. God's values should permeate every aspect of education. Each student should be taught to view knowledge through the eyes of God. Although resource materials are important, we believe the teacher is the living curriculum.

The environment in which one learns is critical. Education improves when the student is free to participate without fear. Students respond according to how we treat them. We believe we all benefit from encouragement and accountability.

A comprehensive and foundational core of Bible, English, Math, Science, and History is essential and non-negotiable. Systematic and rigorous academic study is the main responsibility of a high school student. We believe in high standards. Students will rise to the challenge of tough expectations; pure rote knowledge is not good enough. Students must be taught and challenged to think at higher levels. An Academy education should be hard work.

Our students need to be prepared for the unique world they will live in. Our students must not only learn, but also learn how to learn, as well as discover or rediscover the joy of learning. Our desire is that students become equipped to be high-impact disciples of Christ as they take positions of influence in all walks of life.
We believe education is a partnership. Students function best when there is consistency between the home, church, and school. Our role is to be an extension of your home and church.
