Headmaster

Morning Star Academy’s mission is to provide a classical Christian education that teaches truth, trains disciples and equips students to transform their communities for God’s glory. The Headmaster’s primary duties are to uphold the vision, implement the mission, enforce the policies, embrace the values, and achieve the goals of Morning Star Academy. The Headmaster reports to the Board of Directors for all academic, personnel, business, and fundraising matters according to the policies and procedures established by the Board. This person is expected to pursue the best possible academic and spiritual training for the students of Morning Star Academy.  Click here for job description.

Science Teacher

We are currently seeking an Upper School Science Teacher to teach both Logic and Rhetoric students. Our Logic students discover the glory of God within Life Science, Physical Science and Earth Science. Our Rhetoric students continue to discover that glory through Biology, Chemistry, Anatomy and Physiology. The ideal candidate will be familiar with classical, Christian education and the nuances of how classical Christian education impacts the classroom. A teaching certificate is not necessary. Humanities Teacher

We are currently seeking an Upper School Humanities Teacher to teach both Logic and Rhetoric students. The subjects to be taught are world history, American government, economics, consumer math, health, and applied theology. The ideal candidate will be familiar with classical, Christian education and the nuances of how classical Christian education impacts the classroom. A teaching certificate is not necessary. Athletic Director

We are currently seeking an Athletic Director to oversee the extra-curricular athletic program and ensure that all athletic programs are conducted in a manner that is consistent with the mission, vision, philosophy, and goals of the school. The ideal candidate will possess a working knowledge of middle/high school sports programs and be a college graduate.

Some of the primary responsibilities are:

  • Cooperate with the Board and administration in implementing all policies, procedures, and directives governing the operation of the school athletic program.
  • Develop and coordinate all middle/high school athletic programs of Morning Star Academy.
  • Maintain inventory of all athletic equipment, uniforms and supplies, including ordering, maintenance and assignment of such athletes.
  • Secure coaches and officials.
  • Assist with fundraising activities to support the athletic programs.
  • Liaison with the Iowa High School Athletic Association, ensuring that all applicable rules and regulations are followed.

Part-Time Receptionist

We are looking for an individual who shares our vision of shaping lives of the next generation by using their talents and gifts at the front desk. The responsibility of this person includes:

  • Answering phones, taking messages, transferring calls
  • Control access into building at front door
  • Proficient in email and Windows programs
  • Making copies
  • Dispensing medicine and first aid items to students
  • Document medical events in our school record system (Renweb)
  • Assist with mass mailings
  • Other assigned projects

Preschool Aide

We are currently looking for a part-time preschool aide. The primary responsibilities are to assist the teacher and students in any way needed. The position requires learning the basic student expectations in the classroom, halls and at recess and an understanding of the procedures that protects the safety of the students. It also requires assisting with snack, and general snack clean-up. The position requires 10 hours of training in the first year, 6 hours thereafter, mandatory reporter training and certification, and certification in infant and child first aid and CPR. Willingness to be in the weather and general physical fitness is necessary. It is a Monday, Wednesday and Friday morning position with an anticipated 3 ½ hours of work per day.

Recess, Lunch and Classroom Aide

We are currently looking for a part-time aide. The primary responsibilities are to oversee the Lower School recesses and lunch. Secondary responsibilities will be to assist Lower School teachers when needed. The position requires learning the basic student expectations in the halls and at recess and an understanding of the procedures that protects the safety of the students. It also requires assisting with lunch, enforcing student expectations and general lunch clean-up. Willingness to be in the weather and general physical fitness is necessary. It is a Monday through Friday position with an anticipated 3 ½ hours of work per day.

Part Time Custodian

A significant role in fulfilling our mission is the upkeep of our facilities. We are looking for an individual who shares our vision of shaping lives of the next generation by using their talents and gifts to oversee our facilities. The responsibility of this person includes:
 
  • Cleaning tasks which include restrooms, hallways, stairwells, entryways, trash removal, etc.
  • Maintains appropriate inventory of custodial supplies, orders as needed, and is fiscally responsible for custodial supply budget
  • Works cooperatively with staff to ensure set-ups for activities or events
  • Participates in deep cleaning during breaks
  • Liaison between school and outside vendors and services
  • Collaborates and communicates with administration regarding cleaning and building concerns and issues
  • Ability to work independently in the absence of specific instruction and/or continuous supervision
  • Able to maintain a sanitary, safe and attractive environment
