Classical education places an emphasis on language and thinking skills as a result of its three foundational parts: grammar, logic, and rhetoric.

What is a Classical Christian School?

Classical Christian education has its roots in the Middle Ages. It is the time-proven method of teaching children that produced many of the great thinkers, authors, statesmen, artists, and theologians of the last 15 centuries. Unfortunately, it has almost disappeared from our nation's schools within the last 150 years.

GRAMMAR • LOGIC • RHETORIC

Together these are called the Trivium, and they lay the groundwork for all further learning. The Trivium provides the "tools" needed for the student to learn, understand, and make use of any other subject. A student who has been educated in this manner knows how to think, not just what to think.

Are there other schools like Morning Star Academy?

Yes, classical Christian schools are springing up all across the United States as Christian parents become excited about what their children can learn. Many of these schools are located in the southern and eastern regions of the country. Morning Star Academy belongs to the Association of Classical and Christian Schools (A.C.C.S.) that holds yearly conventions and provides teacher training and curriculum selection support. We also belong to Christian Schools International  (C.S.I.).

Is Morning Star Academy accredited?

Morning Star Academy is accredited as a K-12 institution by Christian Schools International and therefore recognized as an independent accredited school by the State of Iowa.

Morning Star’s preschool program is licensed by the Iowa Department of Human Services.
